NYTimes.com and its focus on product innovation over the last few years constantly surprises me, and simply makes me happy because of how user-friendly it is as well as being beneficial to the site’s usage metrics. The latest example of this is the site’s auto article link that pops up in the bottom-right corner of the screen as a reader is approaching the end of the article they’re currently reading. Instead of making users scroll back to the top of the page, click back to the previous page, or possibly leave the site, users are now offered a relevant, non-obtrusive chance to continue reading related stories on NYTimes.com.
